Tieto priestory, od stredoveku cez barok až po 19. storočie, ukrývajú jedny z najvzácnejších písomných pokladov ľudstva – rukopisy, tlačené knihy, papyrusové zvitky aj prvotlače. Každá z týchto knižníc nesie aj vlastný príbeh – niekedy pokojný, inokedy búrlivý či kontroverzný.
